The Role of Reverse Mortgages in Retirement Income Planning
This two-hour session will focus on the role of reverse mortgages in retirement income planning and a review of the research supporting the use of the product in sustaining retirement income. Long thought of as a last resort, or simply as a bad product, recent changes to the program have made the product much cheaper, opening the doors to mainstream financial planning use as a source of income or simply as a risk management tool. We will discuss the details of the FHA Insured Home Equity Conversion Mortgage product, the eligibility requirements, dispelling myths and verifying facts you may have heard. We will also be reviewing the many works of research that have introduced reverse mortgages to financial planning.
